VTLS Inc. announces that at the ALA Mid-Winter meeting in Denver, CO, there will be opportunities to hear VTLS President and CEO Dr. Vinod Chachra and VTLS Chief Librarian John Espley, who are speaking at several sessions and a seminar.
Dr. Vinod Chachra will be a panel member at the RMG Nineteenth Annual Presidents’ Seminar. The theme this year is “"Starting Over: Re-Inventing the Integrated Library System and the Library Automation Industry." The seminar will be held on Friday January 23 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Typically this panel discussion is a lively exchange of ideas. Each year RMG Consultants invites presidents of significant companies and selected experts to address current issues. Mr. John Espley will be participating in and speaking at three sessions at ALA: two sessions on Friday and one on Sunday.
On Friday, January 23 Mr. Espley will speak at a session from 10:30-12:00 for the ALCTS (Association for Library Collections and Technical Services) FRBR Interest Group on the topic of VTLS’ experiences in the implementation of FRBR.
On Friday, January 23 from 4:00-5:30, he will speak in a session for the ALCTS CCS (Cataloging and Classification Section) on the topic of “How FRBR may affect the display of information in the library environment.”
On Sunday, January 26 at 1:30, Mr. Espley will speak in a session organized by the Authority Control Interest Group. The topic will include discussions on a report from the RDA/MARC Working Group.
