For Immediate Release
Blacksburg, VA - VTLS will host a VITAL Users Group meeting at the third annual Open Repositories Conference in Southampton, England on the morning of April 1st. The meeting will consist of important discussions on how VITAL is being used by various sites, and on the future development of the software. Discussions will also take place on how best to organize partnerships to help the development process.
Several VITAL customers will be present including the Open Repositories Conference spotlight project, ARROW in Australia. Since 2003 ARROW has been funded by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Traning to identify and test solutions for the best institutional repository practices. Other VTLS customers include the National Library Board in Singapore and Yale University in the United States among several others.
Repositories increasingly play a pivotal role in the emerging information landscape. Through the format of blending open user group meetings with general conference sessions that cover cross-cutting and overarching issues, the Open Repositories Conference attempts to create an opportunity to explore the challenges faced by user communities and others in today's world.
VTLS employees Joe Liversedge, the Development Manager of the Vital/Visualizer group and Heather Myers, Product Manager for VITAL, will be attending the conference.
