Blacksburg, VA - VTLS is proud to announce that the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium has purchased VITAL as their choice to provide a digital/institutional repository.
Serving as a test site for the 2.1 version of this new groundbreaking product, they joined an elite group of institutions around the world. No other repository solution offers the combination of rich functionality, vendor-supported open source components and powerful workflow and search tools.
The Université has a long tradition of being a pioneer in the use of cutting-edge automation products, having served as one of the first libraries to use VIRTUA and later the first site to run a production version of FRBR.
"VITAL is a exciting new product that answers our needs for an digital repository," said Charles-Henri Nyns, Chief Librarian of UCL. "It will be used by UCL in a multi-institutional repository project, serving also their partner universities at Namur (FUNDP), Brussels (FUSL) and Mons (FUCaM). VITAL will greatly enhance our scholarly research and expedite the sharing of that work around the globe."
"The future of improved scholarly communications and research is dependent upon institutions putting into place digital repositories," said Dr. Vinod Chachra, CEO of VTLS Inc. "We believe that UCL is, once again, helping to lead the way with their adoption and use of VITAL."
